Mindfulness Through Art: Ganesha, The Remover of Obstacles
This virtual Mindfulness Through Art class explores all the ways we may feel misunderstood, unseen or unheard…that is…until we SHOW UP and BE the powerful creators we are destined to be.
Legend has it, Ganesha was formed out of the Earth by his mother, Parvati, while her husband, Shiva, was away. When Shiva returned and saw this, he sent his army to strike Ganesha down at these “claims” of being her son. But Ganesha, who had an innate ability to overcome obstacles, kept standing and conquered the army.
Shiva sent distractions of beauty to lure Ganesha and as he was focused on human lust, his head was taken and he was killed. Parvati saw this and furiously attacked Shiva, explaining that she had indeed created a son of the Earth.
Shiva became repentant. He demanded a new head be found and Ganesha, now with the head of an elephant and clear conviction to stand in the face of adversity, became the leader of Shiva’s forces.
Through meditation, painting, and journaling, we’ll explore all the ways we can ALL stand courageously in the face of adversity and misunderstanding.
This is a two-part class happening Thursdays, February 18th and 25th from 7pm-9:15pm Pacific time.
